I was a Judaic studies major in college and am only now realizing how little of what we learned had to do with the feminist perspective. This book by Ms. Huttner really tells us the history from the daughters and mothers perspectives. Boy are my eyes opened. How could I have only thought that Tevye's daughters were about Tevye? d'oh- because that's what the history books told us till now. Thank you very much for giving me a new way of looking at the stories I always thought I knew until now.
One thing about the book I would have changed maybe was to not do it word for word from talks she gave, it made it a little confusing to read about upcoming details about talks or movies and then realize that it happened already. This felt like a Talmudic interpretation of Fiddler!!!!!
