Hello FF2 Team!
I just discovered your blog and read your recent post about director More Raca, whose short film, “Home” was on of those in the 2017 CASCADIA International Women’s Film Festival. We”ll repost it to our page.
I’m sorry I didn’t know about you sooner as I was literally staying in your neighborhood during a week-long trip to NYC fro film festival business. I would have liked the opportunity to meet one of you in person and tell you about CASCADIA., an international festival based in Bellingham, WA, of which I am executive director.
We’re entering our third year as a festival that showcases and celebrates only films directed by women. We are currently only one of two such festivals in the U.S. During the past two years, we presented 25-27 films and are currently looking at films for the 2019 festival, to be April 11-14. Short films are submitted on-line and are initially reviewed by our 30 plus reviewers located all over the world. Our features are curated by a guest curator who also programs the Hong Kong International Film Festival and the Brisbane International Film Festival.
Last year, we honored Cheryl Boone Isaacs, former president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, for her career and her contributions to promoting women in the film industry. We can not yet announce this year’s Honored Guest but will be sure to notify you when we do.
I’ve asked our communications handler to add your information to our media list so that we may keep you updated on CASCADIA’s filmmakers, activities and ongoing work. In the meantime, I hope you’ll have a chance to visit our website: http://www.cascadiafilmfest.org/. And of course, we’d love to have you come for the festival in the spring!
